 The professors from Chinese medical University went to the U.S. sister Georgia State University and held the first joint academic conference

Since China Medical University continues to advance towards internationalization, Atlanta, USA, Georgia State University (GSU) invited Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Cheng-Wen Lin, from China Medical University to hold their first joint symposium in the United States, and contributed to the further cooperation and exchanges between the two scholars and laboratories in the meantime. Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Cheng-Wen Lin, also visited and cheered the 10 students in the dual degree program of the school. Moreover, he will provide more overseas study places for students to expand their international perspective during this winter and summer vacations.
Dean of Student Affairs of China Medical University, Professor Cheng-Wen Lin, Department of Medicine, Professor Wen–Cong Xie, Department of Biological Science and Technology, Professor Wei-Wen Guo, Department of Public Health, Professor Zi-Jie Zhou, and Department of Biotechnology, Professor Ming-Qin Gao were invited to sister Georgia State University on November 13 for an four days’ academic visit. They were accompanied with Georgia State University Department of Biology, Professor Fang-Zheng Dai and Professor Zhong-Da Lu to visit the Office of International Affairs, Vice Principal, Dr. Jun Liu, Dean of the School of Public Health, Dr. Michael P. Eriksen, College of Arts and Sciences, Dean of International Affairs, Dr. Gayle Nelson, Biology Department, Dr. Sidney Crow, and Department of Master's Degree, Professor Walter William Walthall et al. They thanked them for facilitating the dual-degree program of two schools.
The professor group of Chinese Medical University held the first joint symposium with sister Georgia State University on November 15, 16, and chaired by senior Vice Principal and Provost, Professor Risa Palm.  Nine professors of the Department of Biology, Department of Chemistry and Department of Public Health of Georgia State University published the research results of viral pathogenic mechanism, anti-cancer, environmental factors exposure associated with the disease, and diabetes.
Dean of Student Affairs of China Medical University, Professor Cheng-Wen Lin, introduced the research on the SARS virus pathogenesis; Professor Ming-Qin Gao published the efficacy of Ganoderma lucidum and the investigation of possible mechanisms; Professor Zai-Jie Zhou introduced the exposed mode of illegal food additives-melamine; Professor Wen-Cong Xie published special ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of oral cancer or other inflammation, and Professor Wei-Wen Guo focused the active ingredient in garlics are the protection mechanisms for the cardiovascular injury caused by diabetes. This entire introduction has been on an extensive and in-depth discussion with the scholars.
Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Cheng-Wen Lin, said the seminar provides a platform for the exchange of academic research, and the rare experience sharing and valuable new knowledge help promote opportunities for international cooperation of the two universities in terms of teaching and research.
There are 10 students from China Medical University, studying in Master of dual-degree program of biology and Public Health in USA Georgia State University and they have to spend one to one and half year to complete the study; Meanwhile, Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Cheng-Wen Lin, and other professors cheered and encouraged the students to not only overcome the Language communication barriers, but seek more living exchanges with many students of other nationalities. Development of independent thinking and the spirit of initiative are always the most direct method of problem-solving.
Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Cheng-Wen Lin discussed the matters of interchange in the International Master's Program of Nursing Department with the Vice Dean of Nursing College of Georgia State University, Professor Joan S. Cranford and Department of Nursing, Professor Li Yu. He got a lot of valuable information and advice and will provide Department of Nursing of China Medical University as a reference.

     The professor group of China Medical University visiting academic exchanges in the USA Georgia State University was paid much attention by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta. The director, An Kao and the two team leaders, Jian-Yi Qiu and Yu-Hong Tseng attended the welcome dinner to pay their tribute; meanwhile, they introduced the hard work and efforts in the academic and research fields invested by the China Medical University in Taiwan to (GSU) International Affairs vice Principal. Dr. Jun Liu, dean of the School of Public Health, Dr. Michael P. Eriksen, and Biology Department of Master's Degree, Professor Walter William Walthall et al. This year, China Medical University has won the top 500 of the world academic ranking of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
